Why Scaling Breaks Operations Before It Fixes Them
Growth is supposed to solve problems. More revenue, more capacity, more options. But for most warehouse and logistics operations, growth does not solve the problems that exist. It exposes them.
Why the operation that got you here will not get you there.
John Brooks is the CEO of Warehouse on Wheels, which operates across 37 locations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico with a fleet of over 36,000 trailers. He has spent years watching operations crack under pressure and has developed a framework for understanding exactly why it happens and where to look first.
This conversation gets into the four pressure points that compound when volume increases faster than the systems built to handle it, why the most common and most expensive mistake in operations is solving the wrong problem with confidence, and what it actually means to build an operation designed to flex rather than just grow.
What you’ll learn
- Why space pressure is almost never a square footage problem
- How flow pressure hides behind hard working teams
- The cost structure mistake that makes every peak period worse
- What separates paper resilience from operational resilience
Our Guest Speaker
Jonathan Brooks
Jonathan Brooks is the founding CEO of Warehouse on Wheels (WOW), the mobile storage operator that has redefined how supply chains add and shed capacity on demand. Since 2018, he has scaled WOW from 2 offices and 4,000 trailers into a 37-location, 36,000+ trailer network across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, a vantage point on exactly where operations buckle as volume scales. Earlier, Jonathan spent 28 years as a finance and operations executive across private-equity-backed enterprises including NESCO, SENCO Brands, and Kuhlman Electric Corporation. Based in Greater Cincinnati.
